    • ASTS 2013 - basic rules

      f you ever want come to an Austrian Scale Event we want to help ? that?s why we provide this explantion of how an ASTS is run. The rules are in german but this should be all you need before the event.

      Popular cars used for the ASTS are Axial SCX 10 or Tamiya CC01 ? and of course many more but this should give you an Idea of things.
      The tracks are to narrow for Axial Wraith or similar. Generally a winch is highly recommended, but not mandatory.

      The cars are deviced into two categories ?Streetclass? - and ?Ultimate Offroad? - the classes drive together in teams of 3 or 4 ? it would be draw by lot at the event.

      Ultimate Offroad

      - scale 1:8 ? 1:12, trucks with more than 2 axles ? 1:16
      - maximum track width: 300mm (better you have maximum 250mm)
      - Wheels are allowed up to 2,2? diameter
      - electronic parts have to built in invisible
      - minimum a part from 2 wheels must be under the body or the fender
      - at cars with 2 axles are only front wheel steering allowed, with 3 axles you could have - steering on 2 axles, with 4 axles and more, steering is allowed on all axles
      - Winch-Down is not allowed
      - DIG is not allowed
      - Motor on Axle (MOA) is not allowed
      - Only cars with electric drive are allowed ? no Monstertrucks, Shourt Course Trucks...
      - Mattracks, tanks and similar are not allowed
      - No Crawler and Stickchassis ? only Ladderframes and Tamiya XC01/CC01 chassis or similar are allowed

      Street Class:
      - Everthing from Ultimate Offroad
      - Hardbody (ABS,?) no Lexan
      - Wheels smaller than 105mm
      - Mirrors
      - maximum wheels outside body and fenders 5mm


      There is a Scalepoint system for "balance of performance"
      for your first event don't care to much about it ? just have fun :)

      Typically Teams consist of 3 or 4 cars/drivers (random)
      2 Teams go to a Section - one Team Judges other is driving
      4 Sections with a maximum time of 40 minutes at every section

      You have to pass the gates and make it to the finish - that´s it

      Here you have an overview of the run point system:
      - Touch a car: 10Pts
      - Reposition of a car (maximum one car length): 15Pts
      - Touch a gatemarker: 10Pts
      - If an Street Class Car drives an Ultimate Offroad Gate (these are harder to drive): -2Pts.
      - If you don´t pass a gate (to pass a gate minimum 2 tires have to get thorugh!): 20Pts
      - Repair (time is stopped for 60 seconds): 10Pts
      - leave the corridor with all wheels: 15Pts
      - DNS: Did not start: 150Pts
      - DNF: Did not finsih: left gates x 20Pts + 20Pts extra

      Scalepoint system:

      - Scale Driver: 2Pts / any more: 1Pts ? maximum 4 scale drivers
      - ABS body: 10Pts. , modified body: 15Pts
      - Tuberframe: 3Pts / homemade 10Pts
      - windshield wipers (no decal!) 1Pts
      - windshield wipers with electric function 3Pts
      - leaf springs 1 axle: 3Pts / both axles 5 Pts
      - IFS 1 axle 3Pts / both axles 5Pts
      - Lexan interieur 1Pts / hard bodied interieur 3Pts / homemade 6Pts
      - Drop Bed 5Pts
      - Spare Wheel 3Pts / Spare Tire 1Pts
      - Fake winch 1Pts / real winch 3Pts
      - front + rear lights 3Pts
      - extra lights (lightbar) 1Pts
      - 1 bumper 1Pts / 2 bumpers 2Pts / homemade 3Pts
      - Exocage/Tube-Bed/Light Cage 1Pts / homemade 5Pts
      - Roof rack 1Pts / homemade 5Pts
      - Rocksliders 1Pts / homemade 3Pts
      - Servo mounted in the ladderframe 5Pts
      - Trailer 15Pts
      - Tires >110mm -10Pts / <100mm 10Pts / <90mm 15Pts
      - All tires completely under the body/fenders 5Pts
      - Scale accesoires (rope, scale tools, box etc.) 1Pts / max. 7Pts.

      Maximum Scale Points taken into consideration: 50Pts (Street Class 70Pts)

      The team with the least points is the winning team ? the same applies for the individual drivers.

      Points for the season are based on the ranking of the event:

      Platz 1 25 Pt.
      Platz 2 22 Pt.
      Platz 3 20 Pt.
      Platz 4 18 Pt.
      Platz 5 16 Pt.
      Platz 6 15Pt.
      Platz 7 14 Pt. and following....

      At midday everybody gets a chance to vote for their favorite cars. These are taken account for the Austrian Scale Car 2013 Award.

      Tech inspection is typically at 09:00 and the event should be expected to finish somewhere around 16:00 ? 18:00.

      Don´t worry if it sounds so much ? you will see it´s really easy and you will have so much fun on this event!

      Hi Leo,

      you can use your winch rope whenever you need it :tumbsup:

      Winch-Down is a ride-height-system to regulate the drive height - and that isn´t allowed.
      Hope my english is good enough to explain Winch - Down. If not, feel free to ask another time :mrgreen:
